Pittsburgh police are asking Lawrenceville residents to be extra vigilant while they investigate a string of burglaries in the neighborhood.

Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Diane Richard said in a news release that many of the burglaries, which began earlier this month, have occurred between 9:30 p.m. and 7 a.m.

In many cases, the burglaries happened when people were fast asleep at home and had left their front windows unlocked. Often, the burglars took electronics. Three times they stole someone's car.

Police reminded residents on Friday to lock their doors and windows, keep their outside lights on and call 911 if they see suspicious activity.

Anyone with information about the burglaries is asked to call the burglary squad at 412-323-7155.
