The board of the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority approved a proposal by Buncher Co. to build water and sewer infrastructure in the Strip District where it has a multimillion dollar development planned.

At its monthly meeting, the board unanimously approved the agreement, with the exception of Pittsburgh city Councilman Patrick Dowd, who voted against it.

Under the agreement, the Buncher Co. will underwrite the costs of the water and sewage lines but will turn them over to PWSA once they are built. It brings the company one step closer to breaking ground on the massive development, proposed to stretch over several blocks and cost in the range of a half-billion dollars.
