Bridge aficionados will gather in Pittsburgh for the 2nd annual Historic Bridge Weekend starting today.

"This event will bring visitors and money into Pittsburgh, as well as raising the awareness of the historic bridges and countless other attractions and hospitality that Pittsburgh has to offer," said Nathan Holth, who maintains historicbridges.org, a comprehensive online collection of bridge photos and historical information.

The event features dinners tonight and Saturday night and a self-guided tour of historic bridges in Mercer and Crawford counties on Saturday, including a visit to the historic Quaker Bridge in Mercer County, which was saved from demolition by a private foundation.

More information is available at www.historicbridges.org/weekend.htm.
