One firefighter was injured responding to a Brownsville Road fire this evening.

Three fire companies responded to 2301 Brownsville Road around 5:30 p.m.

The firefighter from 23 Engine in Carrick injured her finger and wrist, and required stitches, authorities said.

No one else was injured.

Harmony Hoffman, 34, said she was in her basement apartment when her lights flickered, smoke came through her walls and filled the hallway. It was unclear where the fire started, she said.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

The building has been shut down, and Red Cross is providing aid to residents. The first floor of the building housed Doug's Den.
