An accused North Side gang member was found guilty this week on a gun possession charge after his first trial ended in a mistrial.

A federal court jury on Wednesday convicted Akeem Caldwell, 27, identified by federal agents and Pittsburgh police as a member of the Northview Heights Crips, of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

He had pleaded guilty in 2006 to the same charge and was sentenced to 37 months in federal prison.

City police said they caught him with a gun again last Jan. 24.

He will be sentenced March 14 and faces 10 years in prison because of his criminal history.
