One person was killed and another was injured in a wreck involving several cars and a tractor-trailer on Second Avenue this morning.

Theresa Anderson, 43, of Glassport, died at the scene of the 8 a.m. crash, which shut down the road between Bates Street and the 10th Street Bridge.

James Kraska Jr., who was working at Metaltech on Second Avenue, said the tractor-trailer and a gold sedan were headed inbound when they collided.

The tractor-trailer veered off the road and turned onto its side. The gold sedan was pushed into oncoming traffic, where it was struck by a Kia sedan that was headed in the opposite direction. The gold car went airborne and flipped onto its roof, damaging at least one other car in the process.

Mr. Kraska said he tried to calm those trapped in the overturned car, whose crumpled frame remained at the scene.

They were "panicking," he said. "The woman was saying she couldn't breathe."
