DA's office gets access to Shick's UPMC records

Attorneys for UPMC signed a consent agreement today releasing to the Allegheny County District Attorney's office the medical records of the man who opened fire last week at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of UPMC.
John F. Shick, 30, killed a 25-year-old Western Psych employee and left seven other people injured in a violent rampage before being fatally shot by police last Thursday afternoon.
The district attorney's office had sought the records as part of its investigation into the shootings. Mr. Shick had earlier been court-ordered into psychiatric treatment in Oregon.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's office obtained the records earlier this week after issuing a subpoena to UPMC.
