Pittsburgh City Council will hold a post-agenda meeting at 1 p.m. Monday on the possibility of Marcellus Shale drilling in the city.

The meeting is being organized by Councilman Doug Shields. The public is invited to attend, but there is no public comment at post-agenda meetings.

Guests will include an industry representative and state regulators, and discussion will range from the technical aspects of drilling to health concerns to steps local governments take to prepare for emergencies at production sites.

Councilman Patrick Dowd has introduced legislation to regulate drilling in the city, though it's unclear how much authority council has in the matter. A group of residents also has asked council to hold a public hearing on possible Marsellus Shale production.
