Pittsburgh Council Wednesday postponed a planned vote to ban Marcellus Shale gas drilling within the city limits, pending a public hearing set for Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. in Council Chamber of the City-County Building.
Councilman Doug Shields has proposed the ban, while Councilman Patrick Dowd is pursuing severe restrictions on the location of any drilling that would fall short of a full prohibition.
