Legislation introduced Tuesday in Pittsburgh City Council would pay $2,600 to a medical expert that the city hired for advice in a lawsuit involving Councilman Ricky Burgess' father.

The bill would pay $2,600 to Dr. Jon Tucker of Tucker Independent Medical Experts Inc. in Mt. Lebanon.

William H. Burgess, now 87, sued the city and police Officer Timothy McConkey in connection with a traffic accident in front of the councilman's home in Point Breeze on Feb. 22, 2007.

Councilman Burgess said the officer was involved in a chase when the collision involving the police car and his father's vehicle occurred.

The elder Mr. Burgess sustained injuries to his shoulder, arm, head and face.

The legislation introduced Tuesday would pay a medical expert the city retained for the case. Settlement of the case itself has not yet come to council for approval.
