Civil rights attorney to speak today in East Liberty

Nationally-known civil rights attorney John C. Brittain will speak today at the East Liberty Presbyterian Church in anticipation of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday.

The talk will begin at 3:30 p.m. at 116 South Highland Avenue.

The presentation is part of the 2013 Kelso Lecture and is being offered jointly with the East End Cooperative Ministry and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.

Music begins at 3:30 pm, with the program at 4 pm in the Sanctuary.

Mr. Brittain is a professor of law at the University of the District of Columbia.

The event also will feature musical performances by Hope Academy, The Neighborhood Academy Drummers, Community Day School, the Missionary Temple and the Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church Men's Choir.

The program will conclude with a question-answer session and a reception.

Those attending are asked to donated non-perishable food for the church pantry.
