City swimming pools set to open Thursday

The city of Pittsburgh's 18 outdoor swimming pools open today.

Hours are 1 to 7:45 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 to 5:45 p.m. Sundays and holidays.

A year-round pass, costing a city family of four $60, is available at the City-County Building or at the pools. Daily passes also are available. Suburban residents also may pay to use the pools, which are in Banksville, Bloomfield, Brighton Heights, Brookline, Carrick, Greenfield, Highland Park, the Hill District, Homewood, Lincoln Place, Mount Washington, the North Side, Polish Hill, Perry North, Schenley Park, Sheraden, the South Side and Westwood.

The city also has spray parks in Beechview and Troy Hill, which operate from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
