NORTH SIDE: As part of its Cafe Scientifique series, Carnegie Science Center will present a lecture on the Hubble Space Telescope and its impact on science and astronomy by Andrew Zentner, professor of physics at the University of Pittsburgh. A question-and-answer session will follow. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the science center's SpacePlace exhibit, which includes a one-third scale model of the Hubble telescope. OAKLAND: The Mukwano Turkey Bowl Bash, a coed flag football tournament that will benefit a home for abandoned children in Uganda, will be held from noon to 3 p.m. at the football-soccer practice field at Central Catholic High School, 4720 Fifth Ave. The event is organized by the Mukwano Club at Central Catholic, which supports Love Care Family, a nonprofit organization that provides food, shelter and education at the Mirian Duggan Home in Kampala, Uganda. More than 100 high school students and recent graduates will participate in the event, which will be held rain or shine.
MOUNT WASHINGTON: The Scottish Country Dance Society will conduct lessons and hold a dance at Grace Episcopal Church. Lessons will be at 7 p.m., followed by dancing at 8 p.m.
OAKLAND: The Pittsburgh Compline Choir will present choral prayer for the end of the day at 8 p.m. in Heinz Chapel on the University of Pittsburgh campus. Guest musician for the prelude will be Marty Barstow from St. John's Lutheran Church in Perrysville. For more information, www.pghcompline.com.
