A woman ran over her boyfriend with a vehicle then tried to help him out of the street after he assaulted her Thursday night in East Liberty, Pittsburgh police said.

Demona Anderson, 39, of East Pittsburgh, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and domestic violence. She is accused of running over the man, whom police did not identify, who is also the father of three of her children.

Pittsburgh police in the Zone 5 station responded to the intersection of Frankstown and Paulson avenues just before midnight Friday for a male struck by a vehicle, Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Diane Richard said.

The incident began as a domestic dispute call near the Sunoco gas station, less than a block away, before the second call came in about the man who had been hit.

When an officer responded to the scene at Frankstown and Paulson, a Port Authority bus was stopped in the road. Witnesses told police Ms. Anderson ran over the man with her vehicle and that she was also attempting to help him as he was lying the street, Ms. Richard said.

Ms. Richard described the couple's relationship as "on-again, off-again."

She did not describe the man's injuries.

Police could file additional charges, Ms. Richard said.
