A bicyclist was in critical condition tonight after he was struck by a car while riding along Penn Avenue in Point Breeze.

An emergency dispatch supervisor said the collision occurred in the 7700 block of Penn Avenue, near the intersection with Brushton Avenue, about 10:05 p.m. The bicyclist was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

The accident comes six days after 46-year-old James Price of Homewood died after he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle along Penn Avenue near the intersection with Penfield Court, which is about three blocks away from where tonight's crash occurred. The driver in that case fled the scene.
