An Allentown man was arrested this afternoon after stealing a police detective's cell phone from a Brookline store.

A Zone Six detective said the phone was stolen at about 5:30 p.m. after it was dropped in the front of an outdoor food cart at Brookline Boulevard and Castlegate Avenue. One of the food cart employees told detectives someone picked up the phone and ran with it, and the other denied ever seeing the phone.

At about 8 p.m., computer crimes detectives tracked the phone to a home in the 600 block of West Warrington Avenue in Allentown. Ramiro Velasco of Allentown, one of the food cart employees, was found inside of the residence. Detectives also found a small amount of marijuana and a fake identification card inside the home.

Mr. Velasco was charged with theft and receiving stolen property. An accomplice, Antonio Herrara, also of Allentown, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of false identification.
