Allegheny County marbles champions are sitting in first place at the end of the initial day of competition at the 89th National Marbles Tournament in Wildwood, N.J.

Tournament play began today and continues daily until winners are crowned in the boys and girls divisions on Thursday.

Jordan Narr, 14 of Lawrenceville, is leading the boys division, and Emily Cavacini, 9 of Shaler, is tied for first in the girls division.

Other local competitors also are faring well.

Allegheny County runner-up Ben Eddings, 13, of the South Side, is tied for sixth place in the boys division, and 13-year-old Brooke Narr, of Lawrenceville, was tied for fourth place among the girls.

Last year the county dominated national tournament play as local competitors Bailey Narr and Brandon Matchett won each division.
