Allegheny County Council's Public Works Committee on Tuesday unanimously approved a proposal to rename Pittsburgh's 16th Street Bridge in honor of historian David McCullough. Final action on the measure to honor the Pittsburgh native is expected at council's Dec. 4 meeting.

Mr. McCullough, who speaks often about his local roots, will turn 80 on July 7. He is a two-time winner of both the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award.
