14 years in prison for Manchester Original Gangsters heroin dealer

A member of the Manchester Original Gangsters who dealt heroin in the North Side was sentenced today to 14 years in prison.
Jeremiah Manghan, 22, hid drugs and guns in the homes of his grandmother, sister and pregnant girlfriend, U.S. District Judge Arthur J. Schwab said.
"The defendant's conduct contributed to a neighborhood that was overrun with drugs and crime," he said.
Federal guidelines suggested that Manghan could have gotten a sentence of 17 to 22 years because he possessed or conspired to sell about 700 grams of heroin and had a criminal history that stretched back to when he was 13 years old.
Judge Schwab said he opted for a lower sentence because it "allows him another chance at life" if he chooses to study electrical work or some other field while in prison.
He also said Manghan's mother was a crack addict and his brother was killed at age 23.
In early 2011 U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton's office indicted 29 people, including Manghan, following an FBI-led investigation of the Manchester gang.
