Random Acts of Kindness: One school happy to provide special help to cheerleaders
I work in a school for special-needs students in the South Hills. Just recently, the school has formed a basketball team that will play six other schools this winter season.
The school decided that along with the basketball team we would have cheerleaders as well. Not ever having cheerleaders before, we had no uniforms or pompoms.
Taking on such a huge expense like that for our school was not an option. So I decided to call a school that had the same colors as we did, hoping that they might have something they were not using anymore and could donate to our cheerleaders.
That school was Seton-La Salle High School in Mt. Lebanon. I spoke with a wonderful woman on the phone, and within days we had uniforms and pompoms in our school. We are amazed at the generosity of Seton-La Salle.
Because of their kindness and generosity, our cheerleaders will be standing proud with their new uniforms and pompoms. This gift has brightened their spirits and given them self-confidence, and those gifts will last a lifetime!

On a recent Friday, my husband fell as were walking to our car after shopping in the Strip District.
Immediately, people came to our aid. At least five people, maybe more, assisted us. Someone brought napkins, a glass of water, a chair to get him up from the sidewalk.
Three people stayed with him while I got the car and helped him into the front seat. I can't tell you how much we appreciated all of this assistance. Thank you, everyone.

I was shopping at Sam's Club in Washington, Pa., when I noticed that my wallet had rolled out of the pocket of my hooded sweatshirt.
In a panic, I immediately headed back into the section of the store in which I had been shopping last. No sooner did I get there when my name was being paged to report to the service desk.
Needless to say, a good Samaritan had turned my wallet in, and everything in the wallet was intact. I just wanted to extend a heartfelt "Thank you" to the honest person who did such a good deed.

I was traveling by bus with my grandson going to Phipps Conservatory on a snowy Friday afternoon.
I got a call on my cell phone from a family member, and I said I was on my way to Phipps. A sweet young woman was exiting the bus and handed me two passes to Phipps, saying she had just had a baby and wouldn't be using them.
I thanked her and said I would pay it forward. Thanks again, new mom.

The "C" in community must stand for Care.
The senior citizens of the Woodcrest Retirement Residence in Moon extend a gracious "Thank you" to a special young lady, Lindsay, for braving the elements on Jan. 21 and clearing their cars of snow and ice. It was a surprise to all!
It's enlightening to know there are young adults who know the true meaning of caring.
