Thank you, Patricia, wherever you are! You can't imagine how happy I was to be reunited with my burgundy velvet jacket and my black velvet scarf on a Sunday evening around 11:30.

I had left them in the ladies room at UPMC Shadyside Hospital while going to work from 3 to 11:30 p.m. I never realized they were missing until a cold feeling came over me as I looked on our locker room coat rack.

When I found my way, despondent by now, to our security lost and found, I was told my items were not there. I left there hoping that whoever got the coat needed it. But within five minutes the call came -- security did have the items you had brought to them! They found them after I left.

Patricia, if you work at Shadyside Hospital, I'll find you. If not, consider this the biggest thank-you you ever had. I stayed warm on cold winter days because of you.

Someone went out of way to get cell phone to owner

I am a new employee in the Greensburg area. During my first week of employment, I left the building with some co-workers and walked to my car.

On my way home after a few stops, I realized that I did not have my cell phone. When I arrived home, my husband informed me that a gentleman had called his cell phone and told him that he found my phone. I have my husband listed on my "emergency contacts" list, and he was the one who was called first.

The gentleman informed him that the cell phone would be waiting for me at a local restaurant. Unfortunately, my husband did not ask for his name. I called the restaurant to confirm that they did in fact have my telephone.

I also asked if they had any idea who this gentleman was that left it. The person who I spoke to did not. I asked that if she did find out who this person was, for her to leave a note with the telephone so that I could try to thank him. But when I picked up the phone the next day, no one knew who this person was.

I cannot express how much I appreciate the effort the man made to call my husband and make sure that my phone was left in a "safe" place. What a relief that I did not need to go through all of the aggravation to obtain another cell phone, let alone find all the important telephone numbers, etc.

I hope that this person happens to read this so that I can express my deep appreciation. I have and will continue to pay this forward.

Young woman's active search put a lunch back in right hands

I am a volunteer at UPMC St. Margaret in Aspinwall. I had just completed my Friday morning shift and had picked up lunch in the cafeteria to take home with me.

As I was signing out and putting on my coat in the volunteer office, I set my lunch on a table near the door. When I went to pick it up, however, it was gone. I told another volunteer at the information desk what had happened. I told her I thought an elderly couple I saw leaving at the same time must have picked up my lunch by mistake.

When I walked out the front door toward the parking lot, a very nice young lady came up and handed me the bag containing my lunch. She said she had heard me telling what happened, and she caught up with the couple in the parking lot. When she inquired about the bag, they realized they had picked it up by mistake. They gave it to her, and she back to return it to me.

What a surprise. My thank-you did not seem sufficient, so I hope she reads this and knows how much her random act of kindness was appreciated.
