Wow! I am one lucky gal to have been the recipient of not one, but two Random Acts of Kindness in recent weeks!

While shopping one sunny late afternoon in Macy's, South Hills Village, I heard over the public address system a message none of us wants to hear: a description of my car, license plate number and a request to go immediately to my vehicle.

You can easily imagine my thoughts and fears! Well, unknown to me, the sunny day had turned into a rainy one. When a very kind lady noticed that the top was down on my car and raindrops were decorating its interior, she very generously took time out of her schedule to make the necessary contacts and ensure that an announcement was made over Macy's public address system.

Disappointingly, this caring person did not leave her name with Macy's personnel so I could thank her.

Let's move now to a field in Oakmont where I had gone to watch my grandsons play Saturday morning soccer. It was another pretty fall day and I used my iPhone camera to capture those precious moments.

That was the last time I remember using my iPhone before I realized it was gone! Many searches of that field proved futile, but I was optimistic that someone would find and return it.

It was Thursday, five days later, when my optimism had begun to wane before an Oakmont police officer called to say that someone had found my iPhone and had brought it to the police station! Again, a caring person did not leave a name.

I so hope that these two terrific individuals are readers of this column and will learn that I deeply appreciate their thoughtfulness and send them heartfelt thanks. What each did truly was a wonderful act of kindness.

Veterans pulled a fast one on her by making her recipient of meal

My boyfriend and I went to Olive Garden on Veterans Day, Nov. 11. As he had served in the Army, he received a free meal for being a veteran.

There was a wait for the dining room, so we headed to the bar ++area, as that is self-seating. As we looked for a table, two older gentlemen sitting at a table for six with empty chairs waved us over to sit with them. We thanked them and joined their table.

They joked to the waitress that I would be paying their drink bill since I was the only one who had to pay for a meal. Although we talked off and on throughout the meal, I did not get their names. They were kind, thoughtful and funny.

They finished their meals first and said goodbye. Five minutes later the waitress came over and told me they had paid my bill.

You read about random acts of kindness at times, but this was above and beyond that since they were the ones being honored for Veterans Day! I did not have a chance to thank them, so I hope they see this and know how much I appreciate their act of kindness.

Loss of credit card came around the right stranger

I was at Kmart in West View getting medicine and a few other things, not keeping my mind on what I was doing very well, as my husband had been rushed to Allegheny General Hospital earlier in the day for treatment of heart failure.

I paid for my items with a credit card. While in a hurry, I did not put it back in my purse and must have dropped it. Some honest person found it and turned it back in to the store.

I want to thank that person and wish God's blessings on them. No name was given, but I hope someone does a good deed for them, as I will for someone else.
