A convicted sex offender from Wilkinsburg has been arrested on charges that he indecently assaulted a 10-year-old boy following a Christmas Eve party in White Oak.

White Oak police chief Joe Hoffman said in a statement today that the boy's parents contacted police on Jan. 26 after their son, who "was acting out of character at home and at school" told them Darrell Keener, 48, had molested him at their home.

Police said the boy's parents allowed Mr. Keener to stay at their home after a Christmas Eve party lasted late into the evening. "After he went to bed, Keener came into the boy's room and put his hands under the covers of the bed and molested him," the boy told police, according to Chief Hoffman.

Mr. Keener was arrested Feb. 1 on charges of indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors and unlawful contact with a minor. Court records show that he is currently being held in the Allegheny County Jail on $100,000 bail.

State records show that Mr. Keener was convicted of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse in 1991.
