Crews have stopped a water line leak that threatened a U.S. Post Office building in Mt. Lebanon, and service is expected to be restored later today for those affected.

The break in the line was reported just after 5 a.m. in the same vicinity of a rupture last summer, police said.

Crews shut off the supply, and Castle Shannon Boulevard has been closed between Scott Road and Anawanda Avenue, said Gary Lobaugh, spokesman for Pennsylvania-American Water Co. which serves the municipality.

About 15 customers, including the Post Office and a nearby tavern, have been without service since the start of the incident.

Repair workers who plugged the leak also will assess nearby sections of the 12-inch service line to stave off future problems, Mr. Lobaugh said.

The incident has caused traffic detours, but no injuries have been reported.

Service is expected to be restored by early evening for those who have been shut off, the company said.
