Dakota Conwell, a standout football player at Upper St. Clair High School, has decided he will play for Pitt.
Conwell, who plays quarterback and linebacker, made a verbal commitment to Pitt this afternoon. Conwell (6 feet 1, 210 pounds) was a member of the Post-Gazette Fabulous 22 as a junior and he also had scholarship offers from Maryland, Toledo and Temple.
Conwell will be a senior at Upper St. Clair and was recruited by Pitt to play linebacker.
"I could probably build an argument that maybe he should've played this season and then see what transpires with colleges," said Upper St. Clair coach Jim Render. "But he's happy with Pitt, and if he's happy with Pitt, I'm ecstatic."
