Unemployment down slightly in Pittsburgh region

Unemployment in the seven-county Pittsburgh region declined one-tenth of a percentage point to 7.2 percent in November, the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry announced today.
The area covered by the report -- Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Washington and Westmoreland counties -- had a combined unemployment rate that was lower than the state's overall rate of 7.8 percent or the national rate of 7.7 percent.
Two counties had significantly higher rates than the rest of the region. Armstrong County had an unemployment rate of 8.5 percent and Fayette County had a rate of 9.2 percent.
Allegheny and Butler had lower rates, at 6.6 percent and 6.2 percent respectively.
