A men's clothing store and a shoe store are headed to Market Square as part of the $3 million conversion of three buildings at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Market Street.
Heinz Healey's mens store, now located in Station Square, will open at second 2,400-square-foot location on Fifth Avenue as part of the conversion. The Nettleton Shop, a men's shoe store in One Oxford Centre, will take 1,000 square feet at the same location, Mayor Luke Ravenstahl announced during a press conference today.
The Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation, which has undertaken the renovation project, also has found tenants for two of the seven apartments, all single-bedrooms except for one, that it is renting on the upper floors of the buildings. One will rent for $1,150 a month and the other for $1,400.
The Nettleton shoe store has been Downtown since 1929, first in the Union Trust Building and then Oxford Centre, where it moved in 2006. Heinz Healey owner Chas Schaldenbrand had stores Downtown before being persuaded by History & Landmarks President Arthur Ziegler to move to Station Square more than 25 years ago. Now he is returning.
He described the location on Fifth Avenue as "fabulous." Both stores will be close to the Reed Smith law firm offices moving into the new Three PNC Plaza office building and the Fairmont hotel, which also will be part of the PNC complex. The clothing store will be opening in August. The Nettleton Shop is expected to open in June, owner Scott Kresge said.
