Two killed in crash in Fayette County

Two Markleysburg men were killed this morning when the driver ran his car off Martin Road in Henry Clay Twp., Fayette County, and struck a tree at a high rate of speed, according to state police.
Donald J. Griffith, 42, was driving the 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier northbound when he lost control of the car, and it ran off the right side of the road, state police said. Neither Mr. Griffith nor his passenger, 42-year-old Richard S. Svenungsen, was wearing a seatbelt at the time, and both sustained fatal injuries from the crash, according to police.
The roadway was closed in both directions for approximately three hours, and state police said they will continue to investigate the accident.
