Two Beaver County residents were hurt Saturday in a car crash blamed on speed.
State police at Beaver said Mark Frankenberry, 22, of New Brighton, was cited for driving at an unsafe speed following the 4:40 p.m. crash on Route 18 in Big Beaver.
Mr. Frankenberry was hurt and was transported to Allegheny General Hospital, North Side. His passenger, Mary Frankenberry, 20, of Aliquippa, also was injured and was taken to AGH. Police described their injuries as moderate.
The accident happened when Mr. Frankenberry was northbound on Route 18, also known as Big Beaver Boulevard. The car went off the berm and struck a fire hydrant then rolled several times, ejecting Ms. Frankenberry. Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt, police said.
