The Texas Tech football team has landed its third recruit from the WPIAL class of 2012.
McKeesport High School defensive lineman Delvon Simmons signed a letter of intent with Texas Tech this morning. Simmons had signed with North Carolina in February but asked for a release from the letter after North Carolina defensive line coach Brian Baker left to become an assistant with the Dallas Cowboys.
North Carolina granted Simmons his release and Simmons considered Pitt and USC before signing with Texas Tech. The other two WPIAL players who signed with Texas Tech in February are McKeesport's Brandon Jackson and Clairton's Desimon Green.
Simmons was a member of the Post-Gazette Fabulous 22 and a first-team all-state selection.
