The Steelers announced the name of another new investor today -- Paul J. Evanson, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Greensburg-based Allegheny Energy.

Previously, Mr. Evanson was president of Florida Power & Light Co., the principal subsidiary of FPL Group, Inc., one of the largest investor-owned electric utilities in the nation.

It is not known what percentage of investment Mr. Evanson, who lives in Palm Beach, Fla., has made in the Steelers franchise. Nor is it known if he is a single investor or head of an investment group comprised of other minority contributors.

The Steelers said that Evanston was approved at an NFL meeting last week.

Dan Rooney and his son, Art II, are the majority owners of the Steelers franchise after a two-year restructuring in which they purchased most of the remaining shares from Dan's brothers -- Tim, Art Jr., John and Pat.

But they also have 10 other investors who are considered minority owners -- Hollywood producer Thomas Tull, James Haslam III, the Paul family of Pittsburgh, Bruce Rauner, former Steelers receiver John Stallworth, the Varischetti family, hedge-fund billionaire David Tepper, Ben Statler, Mike Wilkins and the Paul Sams family.

More details in tomorrow's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
