The Steelers added another cornerback to their weakened secondary today when they signed rookie Roy Lewis from their practice squad.
To make room for Lewis, they released wide receiver Dallas Baker, who had shared the No. 3 spot with rookie Limas Sweed for one game when coach Mike Tomlin deactivated Santonio Holmes against the New York Giants Oct. 26.
Baker, a seventh-round draft choice from Florida in 2007, played in eight games this season and had one catch for six yards. He could be re-signed next week if he clears waivers.
Lewis, who is 5-10 190, signed as an undrafted rookie with the Steelers this season from the University of Washington. He spent the past 10 weeks on their practice squad.
Two of the Steelers top three cornerbacks will not play tomorrow against San Diego because of injuries, Deshea Townsend and Bryant McFadden.
