Steelers sign punter to offer sheet

The Steelers today signed former Pitt punter Andy Lee to an offer sheet as a restricted free agent with the San Francisco 49ers.
The 49ers now have seven days to match the offer and keep Lee or not match and receive a sixth-round draft choice from the Steelers in return.
Terms of the Steelers contract with Lee were not immediately available.
Lee averaged 44.8 yards a punt last season, 36.8 net, by far his best season in three with San Francisco.
Lee, 24, became Pitt's punter as a true freshman in 2000 and is the only player to ever win the Big East special teams player of the year award twice. His 244 punts are a school record. The 49ers drafted him on the sixth round in 2004. They gave him a one-year, $850,000 qualifying offer as a restricted free agent.
