The Steelers wasted little time today bringing back another former player, reaching agreement with inside linebacker Larry Foote on a three-year, $9.3 million contract shortly after he passed a physical.

Foote, 29, returns to the team where he won two Super Bowls. Just one year ago he was released because he didn't want to be a backup to Lawrence Timmons.

Foote started 16 games for five consecutive seasons with the Steelers and the first 14 games last season with his hometown Detroit Lions. He missed the final two games with a foot injury, ending his consecutive start steak at 94 games.

Foote's return comes one week after the Steelers signed their former receiver Antwaan Randle El to a three-year, $7 million contract. He is the fifth unrestricted free agent signed by the Steelers in the past eight days.

More details in tomorrow's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
