Although Thaddeus Gibson has been unable to practice with the Steelers, he and fellow Ohio State Buckeye Doug Worthington are the first rookie draft choices to come to contract terms with them.
Gibson, an outside linebacker, and Worthington, a defensive end, each agreed to three-year contracts, the Steelers announced. Gibson was their fourth-round draft choice and Worthington their last, on the seventh round.
Gibson has been unable to practice with the Steelers except for their three-day minicamp April 30-May 2 because the NFL agrees not to allow rookies to practice in the spring until their class graduates. Ohio State is on a quarter system and classes take place into June. While also an Ohio State student, Worthington has graduated.
The Steelers have eight draft choices remaining who have not yet come to terms.
