The Steelers this morning released veteran offensive tackle Flozell Adams, one day after coming to a contract agreement with Willie Colon.

Adams, 36, signed one year ago to play right tackle after an achilles injury ended the 2010 season for Colon, who started at right tackle the previous three years. Adams became the only member of the offensive line to start every game for the Steelers.

He was scheduled to make a $5 million salary this season and the Steelers wanted him to take less to become their No. 3 tackle. He declined and they released him. Adams hopes to hook on with another team.

More details in tomorrow's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
