Steelers No. 1 draft choice Santonio Holmes apologized today for his recent legal troubles, including his arrest early Monday in Columbus, Ohio on charges of aggravated assault and domestic violence.

Holmes, who was at the team's South Side complex for a scheduled workout, said in a prepared statement: ""I understand that being a Pittsburgh Steeler carries along with it the demands for responsible behavior off the field. I want to apologize for the negative attention that my arrest on Monday has brought upon the Pittsburgh Steelers organization, especially in light of my previous arrest in May."

Holmes was cited for disorderly conduct in the South Beach section of Miami on Memorial Day weekend.

He declined to talk to reporters today.

More details in tomorrow's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
