Steelers Colon may be lost for season with torn triceps
Steelers offensive tackle Willie Colon has a torn triceps muscle in his arm and will undergo surgery this morning, his agent confirmed this afternoon.
Joe Linta said Colon's injury occurred some time late in the game. He said he's "likely" to go on injured reserve, ending his season.
Colon, their starting right tackle, missed all of last season after his achilles was torn in June 2010. He had been their starter the previous three seasons. The Steelers signed him to a five-year, $29 million contract this summer to return to start at right tackle.
"Willie is obviously devastated," Linta said. "But he vows to be back and give the Steelers more good years."
Flozell Adams, who replaced the injured Colon last season and started every game at right tackle, was released by them at the start of training camp. So too was former starting tackle Max Starks. Both remain free agents.
