Snow is expected to move across the region by lunchtime, and location will help to determine accumulation.

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a winter weather advisory in effect from noon until midnight for counties north of the city. Among those in the advisory area are Butler, Lawrence, Mercer, Venango, Armstrong, Clarion, Forest, Jefferson and Indiana counties.

From 2 to 4 inches of snow is possible by tonight with winds from the southwest at 10 to 20 mph and gusts to 35 mph. Visibility will be limited to less than one mile at times.

In the city and locations to the south and east, about an inch is expected today with wind gusts reaching 30 mph. Snowfall could, however, put the skids on the afternoon commute by causing slick roadways and limiting visibility.
