Sixteen high school seniors officially signed to play for Pitt Wednesday, completing incoming coach Paul Chryst's first recruiting class.
The group includes six players from WPIAL schools, and was ranked by Rivals.com as the fourth-best class in the Big East. While most of the class committed to Pitt while Todd Graham was still the head coach, Chryst and the new staff have worked over the past month to turn verbal commitments into official letters of intent.
The class is highlighted by four players listed as four-star talents by Rivals: offensive lineman Adam Bisnowaty (Fox Chapel High School), running back Rushel Shell (Hopewell High School), Deaysean Rippy (Sto-Rox High School) and Chad Voytik (Cleveland, Tenn. High School).
Voytik and Shell both rank in the top ten nationally at their position. Shell set the WPIAL record for career rushing yards this past season. Voytik was the first player to fax his letter in at 7:01 a.m., one minute after the signing period officially started.
