The LifeSpan senior citizens program in Oakdale will discontinue at the end of the year.

Activities in the Oakdale Community Center, 104 Seminary Ave., will be limited to Tuesdays and Thursdays in November and December, and then the program will end permanently, borough council President Ron Gamble said Thursday.

LifeSpan, Inc. of Homestead decided to close the Oakdale Senior Resource Center because of a decline in attendance, he said.

Participants may attend any of the 10 other senior centers that nonprofit LifeSpan operates in Allegheny County. The nearest locations are Bridgeville and Carnegie, according to the organization's website, www.lifespanpa.org.
