DALLAS -- Another day has passed and another name has surfaced as a possible successor for former Penn State coach Joe Paterno.
The agent for San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman said his client is a finalist for the job.
Agent Mike Harrison told the Associated Press Monday that Roman interviewed for the position in November and is on the "short list" to replace Paterno, who was fired Nov. 9 amid a child sexual abuse scandal involving former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky.
Harrison told the AP he expects to know in about a week whether Roman will be hired, but declined to offer further details.
Roman is in his first year with the 49ers after being named the team's offensive coordinator this past January.
Penn State finished off a 9-4 season today by losing to Houston, 30-14, in the TicketCity Bowl.
