South Fayette Superintendent Linda Hippert today is sending parents a letter about a middle school football coach who sent an "inappropriate" e-mail to about 16 people.

Dr. Hippert said she was contacted last week by parents and staff about the e-mail, which came from an account outside the school district used by the coach, Peter Schepis. She described the e-mail as containing "a narrative as well as pictures taken on school property, one of which was inappropriate."

She wrote that Mr. Schepis admitted he took the pictures of himself but said he didn't distribute them to those who contacted the school district. She said Mr. Schepis, who also was a day-to-day substitute teacher, immediately resigned.

She said the matter is under investigation by South Fayette police and other authorities.

She said the e-mail was received by some parents, staff members and other adults. To the best of her knowledge, no children received it.

South Fayette Police Chief Louis Volle said, "It's under investigation. We're still trying to track down where the e-mails came from and all of that."

He said the photos included one nude photo. "We don't know who it is," he said.
