CHICAGO -- Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor has been named preseason offensive player of the year in the Big Ten Conference for the second consecutive season.

Pryor, a junior from Jeannette High School, has led the Buckeyes to two Big Ten championships and a pair of Bowl Championship Series appearances in his first two seasons.

He was named offensive MVP of the Rose Bowl last year. For the season, he completed 167 of 295 passes for 2,094 yards and 18 touchdowns and led the team in rushing with 779 yards. He already ranks 11th among Ohio State's career total offense leaders with 4,808 yards.

Pryor and the Buckeyes, who have earned at least a share of the past five Big Ten titles, were picked No. 1 in the conference's preseason poll conducted by the media. Iowa was No. 2 and Wisconsin No. 3.

Also today, Michigan State linebacker Greg Jones was named preseason defensive player of the year for the second consecutive season at the Big Ten's annual media days.
