Pitcher Wood signs minor league deal with Pirates

CHICAGO -- The Pirates today signed right-handed relief pitcher Tim Wood to a minor league deal. He will not be placed on the club's 40-man roster.

Recently released by the Washington Nationals, Wood pitched in 26 games for the Florida Marlins last season, throwing 27 2/3 innings with an ERA of 5.53.
