Pirates trade Josh Fields to Rockies

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The Pirates today traded infielder Josh Fields to the Colorado Rockies for a player to be named later or cash.

Fields, signed as a minor league free agent in the off-season by the Pirates, was reassigned to minor league camp on Friday. He hit .172 (5 for 29) with 11 strikeouts in 21 spring training games for the Pirates this season.
