The Pirates signed right-hander Tim Wood to a minor league contract and will bring him to spring training as a non-roster invitee. Wood, 28, went 0-3 with a 5.63 ERA in 13 appearances with the Pirates this season.

The Pirates signed him as a free agent before the season and designated him for assignment in August. The Texas Rangers signed him shortly afterward, and he became a free agent Monday.

Wood had 23 saves in 40 appearances with Class AAA Indianapolis this season and named to the International League postseason All-Star team.
