Pirates' Kelly cut loose to make room for Kolb

The Pirates today designated utilityman Don Kelly for assignment to clear space on the 25-man roster for reliever Dan Kolb.
A team has 10 days from the time it designates a player for assignmment to trade, release or demote him. Kelly, 27, batted .154 -- 4 for 26 -- with no extra-base hits or walks in limited duty off the bench. He is a Mt. Lebanon native and Point Park College graduate.
