Pirates complete release of Vazquez
Share with others:
The Pirates today unconditionally released infielder Ramon Vazquez, as was expected when he was designated for assignment last week.
The team is responsible for Vazquez's $2 million salary. If another team signs Vazquez it only has to pay him the prorated portion of Major League Baseball's minimum wage of $400,000. However much Vazquez earns with another team will be deducted from the amount the Pirates owe.
