Pens seek change to start of Saturday home game

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- The Penguins plan to ask the National Hockey League if they can change the time of their home game Saturday.
They are scheduled to play Florida at Mellon Arena at 7:38 p.m., about a half-hour before the Steelers face Jacksonville in an NFL playoff game at Heinz Field.
NHL teams do not have the authority to arbitrarily change game times. The league requires that teams seek its approval because it wants factors such as how a switch would affect the visiting team to be taken into consideration.
It is believed, however, that most such requests ultimately are approved.
The Penguins' flight to Buffalo this morning was delayed about an hour-and-a-half, but they are expected to arrived in time for a 3 p.m. practice at Ralph Wilson Stadium, where they will face Buffalo in an outdoor game tomorrow at 1:20 p.m.
More details in tomorrow's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
